Frontier begins offering Internet from satellite service in Oregon

According to a recent announcement by Frontier Communications, customers in Gresham, Beaverton, and Coos Bay in the state of Oregon will now be able to avail of its high-speed satellite Internet service.

Frontier is offering its new Internet from satellite service to areas that cannot access the Company’s DSL and fiber-optic services. Customers will be able to enjoy download speeds ranging from 5 to 15 megabits per second at monthly rates of $54.50 and $124.50.

The HughesNet satellite broadband service will provide capacity and connectivity for Frontier Communications’ new site.

Satellite connectivity is a popular alternative to provide high-speed Internet connections to rural areas. However, Internet from satellite is vulnerable to connection delays caused by weather interference.

Frontier Communications expressed its intent to expand its Internet from satellite service to other areas. However, the Company did not state a specific date or location.
